PROBLĒMA
Euro-Lans AB is Sweden’s largest manufacturer of ambulances, emergency vehicles, guide vehicles, diving rescue vehicles and police cars. Engineering starts with a fully stripped-down vehicle, which is filled with specially designed equipment based on the customer’s requirements. The company used AutoCAD LT, but it was too complicated for the customer to understand the design concepts in 2D drawings. Moreover, the furnishing is increasingly being designed with soft shapes that are cast in plastic, and those shapes are practically impossible to create in 2D.
RISINĀJUMS
Euro-Lans AB needed to choose a 3D CAD system and found that SolidWorks 3D CAD was the easiest program to learn and work with. They also found it was the most complete, with lots of standard functions that the competitors simply lacked. In addition, they also enjoyed the large selection of third-party applications. Their customers really appreciate being able to see solutions in 3D, something that speeds up their decision making process considerably. Finally the design work is done much faster with 3D.
